Power Supply Adjustment instructions

! Important Safeguards !
When using electrical equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
• This product must be installed and serviced by licensed electrical contractors familiar with these instructions
• Always install in accordance with all applicable electrical codes
• Always disconnect power from the FLATLITE system before servicing
• Use of any components not supplied with the FLATLITE system, or the modification of the components
supplied, may cause an unsafe condition
• Do not use this equipment for other than its intended purpose
• This equipment is approved and rated for connection of lamps as specified. Never exceed the Total Load
Rating of any power supply
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the cover from the power supply and place so
the components inside are accessible, and the white
connectors are to your left. Be certain that the supply is
completely disconnected from any power source.
2. Confirm that the input voltage select jumper is placed
correctly for your operating voltage – 110 or 220 VAC.
(110 VAC = jumper between the middle and bottom
pins; 220 VAC = jumper between the middle and top
pins)
3. Match the power supply to the lamp size. The 600B
covers the range of 250 – 600 square inches of lamp in
two ranges of 250 – 400 and 400 – 600 square inches.
The Lamp Size Jumper must be positioned correctly for
the lamp size. The Lamp Size Jumper should be between
the middle and right pin for a lamp of 250 – 400 square
inches; or between the middle and the left pin for a lamp
of 400 – 600 square inches.
4. Locate the Output Level Adjustment (OLA) white pot and Voltage Limit Adjustment (VLA) blue pot. Only use
non-conductive tools to adjust these pots!
5. Turn the VLA all the way clockwise; turn the OLA all the way counter clockwise.
6. After assuring that all lamp connections have been made and properly insulated, connect lamp to the power
supply.
7. Connect a voltmeter capable of reading up to 400 VAC rms to the output of the power supply (usually by
inserting the probes into the back of the 2 circuit white lamp connector)
8. Connect the power supply to an appropriate grounded power outlet. NOTE: All power supply adjustments
must be made with the lamp connected to the power supply.
9. Turn on the power supply, the lamp should be dimly lit, and the voltage should read less than 280 VAC.
10. Adjust the Voltage output and limit pots:
a) Slowly adjust the OLA fully clockwise
b) Slowly adjust the VLA counter clockwise until the voltmeter indicates 320 VAC.
c) Slowly adjust the OLA counter clockwise until the voltmeter indicates 280 VAC. NOTE: 280 VAC is for
maximum lamp brightness
d) Allow the system to stabilize for approx. five minutes. Then re-adjust the voltage to 280VAC. At this
setting, the lamp is operating at its brightest. To reduce the brightness, and increase the life of the lamp,
adjust the OLA to a lower value (less than 280 VAC). Adjust the OLA until the lamp brightness matches
your requirements. A full range of brightness, from full on to off, may not be achievable with all lamp
sizes

Troubleshooting
FLATLITE systems are very reliable when properly installed. However, the unique nature of an electroluminescent
lamp and the extensive safety features of the power supply require some specific troubleshooting
techniques.
* Note: Problem may be in lamp crimp attachment or in distribution wiring. Disconnect lamp from distribution
wiring to troubleshoot.

Measuring across the lamp leads with a digital multimeter
check the following:
1. Continuity (if Yes) there is a Short Circuit in Wiring
Solution: Remove Short*
2. Capacitance (if No) there is an Open Circuit in
Wiring Solution: Repair Wiring*
